Summer Hair Tutorial - The Messy Knot

I have been looking for ideas for summer hair.  I am really into {embracing} messy hair mainly because it is too hot and I am too lazy to do my hair.  Unfortunately, I am not really great at taking pictures or doing tutorials.  Today I had to get ready quick because we slept in (gosh I love summer) and had an appointment with a lawyer to get the process for my husband's visa started. (TOTAL bummer)

So here is what I came up with.  You will love the simplicity of it.  For this style it is best to start with hair that is already a bit messy or air-dried.  Lucky for me, my hair is always messy!

Part your hair from crown to the nape of the neck like you are going to do pigtails.  Twist inward, the two sections toward each other.  Then, just tie them in a knot!  Secure the 'do with a clear plastic rubber band right under the knot and voila!  If some pieces fall out in front, all the better!

If you want to make it a bit fancier you can twist and tuck in the remaining pony, pin it down, and you will have a nice little chignon!  If doing the chignon, you can also smooth out the hair a bit or maybe add curls depending how fancy you want it.  

It basically looks like a messy little knot. So cute!  My makeup is mascara, eye-liner, little blush, and lipstick.  Which, by the way, is my new obsession.  Why have I never worn them before?  They add so much!! Can't wait to try all kinds of looks!

My husband was not too happy that I stopped to take pictures of my outfit and hair when we needed to leave for the visa appointment...  Oh men, such one-track minds!

But he sure looked handsome in his polo!!  I'll let it slide this time... :)
