What I wore, House Hunters International

Okay, so if you are a regular reader here you may know that my husband, boys and I were on a little show recently.  It's called House Hunters International, heard of it?  A producer from the show in London called me a while back, last summer actually, asking if our family would be interested in doing the show.  My husband graciously gave me the go-ahead, although this is most certainly not his thing, and we got our chance at being stars!

I spent the months between filming, back in November, up until the show aired which was last Wednesday night, worrying.  I am not normally a worrier, but I was this time.  I was worried about how the show would portray me and my family, I was worried I would come across like a spoiled American.  And while I might be in some aspects, I have most certainly learned to go with the flow.  You have to with our lifestyle.  So I thought I would do a follow up post with what I wore and a little insight into filming.

scarf: Paris flea market // shirt: gift // jeans: Rock & Republic // Shoes: Steve Madden

I chose this outfit because I wanted my hair to be something different but cute.  However, I was unaware at the time of filming I would have to wear my hair like this for three days straight.  And as you might have guessed, for a hair girl like me, that was kind of a bummer.  But you just roll with it, I guess, and all the other chances I got I wore it down.  If you want to see how I did this top-knot kinda look, you can head over to 30 Handmade Days.  I did a post on it last Wednesday.

So some main questions people have been asking me are one: did you really pick that house and are we living in it.  The answer is yes.  That is our house.  We are still currently living in it.  We love it and although some things are hard (i.e. the hill) it is a great fit for us.

Two:  Did you buy that house?  The answer is no.  We are renting that house and the team helps with furnishings & locating the things we need.
Shirt: Express // Earrings: Avery's Loft // (not pictured because I took this later) Necklace: Lisa Leonard  To win some money to Lisa's shop - go HERE

Three: How was filming everything?  It was lovely.  The people were nice and made us feel like pros although I am sure we didn't look like it.  It was long days, but overall an amazing experience that I am so happy we did.  It turned out lovely and I will be happy to have a dvd to remember this fun time in our lives.

Four:  I liked the house with all the red! Why didn't you choose that one!!  Well for one, it wasn't even for sell.  The owners were there while filming!  And for two it looked a lot larger on tv than it was in real life.  And while I would have loved to live in the city, we needed more room for our crazy boys to run free!

That's about it!  I would love to hear your take on everything if you saw the show.  If you didn't I am sure it will be rerun all the time, and I'm not sure how excited I am about that...

Now off to finish packing up to head back to France.  Wish me luck on this 14 hour flight and even longer travel day!

House Hunter's International

If you weren't already aware, my husband, boys and I are going to be on House Hunter's International on HGTV.  I wasn't sure if I should share the time and date of the show with everyone because honestly, I am embarrassed.  I know that it is television and they can make you out to look however they want to.  But when it comes down to it, my family and my friends know me and know who I am.  I guess it worries me a bit because most of the people I have met online through this lovely world of blogging, don't know me.  And if they don't know me personally and I am portrayed a certain way, it could be easy to believe it.
Yes, I got my makeup professionally done. My cousin happens to own a makeup company. It pays to know people!
So I am here today to set a few things straight.  I just wanted to clear the air just in case there are a few things misinterpreted through television.  Hopefully this will all be for nothing and I won't look like a crazy woman on the show, but you know, just in case.

For one, I do not run my husband.  I don't think there is an ounce in my body that could manipulate that man even if I wanted to.  Don't get me wrong, he loves me and respects me and my opinions, and we make most of our decisions together.  However he is the ultimate authority in our house and I like it that way.
Filming me talking to Lavar on Skype.

Second of all, sorry House Hunters, but I have to clear the air.  My husband NEVER travels with the boys by himself.  That is me every time.  The reason I feel the need to clear this one up is not because I want to make my husband look like he does nothing, he works very hard for our family.  But because it is hard to travel internationally by myself with two kids.  So I think I deserve credit for that! Can I get an amen??  And I have a slight feeling the show might make me look like I stay in the states to go shopping while my husband takes the kids overseas.  I cannot tell you how far that is from the truth.

I was asked to add a little drama to the show by emphasizing, we'll say, whether or not I could live in France.  If you know me and my family, you know the truth there.  I have lived here for 3 1/2 years now over a 5 year period and I think I'm okay.
The film crew was awesome, I had so much fun with them in LA and in France.

Okay, I think that is about it.  The hardest part about all this, I can't watch the show when it airs!  I have to wait until it is sent to me on DVD.  So I will be relying on Twitter, Facebook, and e-mails to see how much of a dork I look like!

Oh, did you want to know when it airs?  If you follow us on Facebook (which you should), you already know.  If not.... fine I'll tell.  It's...

Tonight 7:30 & 10:30 PST on HGTV

I would love to know if you get a chance to tune in!  And if you do and I do look like a dork, just know it's not all true.  Actually, I am a total dork in real life, so that might be true, just not some other stuff.

Yikes, it's here!!
