Fashion Inspiration

I am feeling a little less inspired the last few days.  It could be my whirlwind trip to LA for the weekend and trying to catch up.  I was so inspired flying by myself, I felt like I could conquer the world.  Then I got tired and realized we live in a really big world...  Maybe I'll just take a nap.

It's hard to be a 'fashion' blogger and not have the funds to just shop whenever you feel like it.  So I have to resort to things like shopping my closet in my 7 items 7 ways or trying to complete a 30x30.  So to spark my creative fashion juices, I turned to Polyvore.  I love that site!  Why not Pinterest, you might ask?  Well, as much as I love Pinterest, I don't like when I post my pins on the blog and people pin them from my site.  It wasn't my work!

So here is what I put together from Polyvore.  I have a night out outfits, which I LOVE. It's my fav.  Casual which I think is cute and comfy.  Work appropriate.  I don't have a day job, or actually my day jobs are really messy and leave fingerprints on everything, so this wouldn't be appropriate for my job, but you know, if I had one where I had to leave the house.  Or my jammies.  This is something I would love to wear. Then I have my comfy chic. I like the sweater and tights.  The boots may or may not be comfy, hard to tell.  Maybe some ballerina flats would have been more appropriate.  favorite looks

You can shop the items above.  But they're kinda expensive, because you know, these are dream outfits.  If they were featured in Target, I would be modeling them by now.

Would you wear any of these outfits?  Which one is your favorite?  Better yet, what do you do for a spark of inspiration?  Happy Thursday!

Liked it, Did it, Pinned #4

Okay, so it's Thursday and we're back for the Pinterest inspired Linky party!!  This week we have an awesome co-host and I am so excited about it!! Cami from All things Lovely and I have teamed up to bring you one big Pinterest party!!  Great idea, right?  We thought so.  You can go show her some love, and if you link up here or there, it all shows up in the same place!  We're making things easier on you.  You're welcome. :)

I can't wait to see what ya'll did!  I made (and thoroughly enjoyed) these...

Mine didn't look a thing like this picture.  As a matter of fact, I may or may not have remembered to add the baking powder.  And baking soda.  But I made sure the cream cheese with powdered sugar filling got in there!!  And they still tasted delicious. {check out Annies-eats.com for lots of great recipes!}

Here are the features from last week:
Braided Headbands from Natalie at NS Pottery

Whiteney from Davenport Developments shared this cute outfit & a yummy pie! Fashion and food? Yes, please!

And lastly, but most certainly not least, is my co-host, Cami from All Things Lovely!  She put together some really cute outfits inspired from Pinterest.

Okay, you're turn!! Whatcha got?

Here are some guidelines ....

1.) Make sure you know where the picture for inspiration is coming from. It is someone's work and you should ask permission to use it in the blog post and give credit where it is due!
2.) Link the post URL, not your blog's.
3.) Add the linky button somewhere in the blog post and in your linky bar.  Parties are more fun with more people!
4.) No link and leaves!  Check out at least two other posts that catch your eye and share some comment love!
5.) I would love if you were following me!  (totally don't have to, but I love new friends!)

Liked it, Pinned it, Did it

Do you sit at your computer sifting through picture after picture, pinning away with grand dreams of creating each and every project you just pinned?

Do you need an outlet, a reason to make these projects?  An inspiration to create??  Well it's time to get up, turn off your computer, and get to work!  After you pinned that last pin of course!

Pinterest has a wealth of information posted by very creative people.  Some people are super creative and can think of these things on their own.  And some other people, like me, need inspiration.  We need someone to do it first so we can try our own interpretation of it.  So unlike other link up parties where you link what you like on Pinterest, we are going to link what you have done because of Pinterest!

Here is my example:
Pinterest inspiration ~

My take on it ~

What do ya think??

So, here's the rules:

1.) Make sure you know where the picture for inspiration is coming from. It is someone's work and you should ask permission to use it in the blog post and give credit where it is due!
2.) Link the post URL, not your blog's.
3.) Add the linky button somewhere in the blog post and in your linky bar.  Parties are more fun with more people!
4.) No link and leaves!  Check out at least two other posts that catch your eye and share some comment love!
5.) I would love if you were following me!  (totally don't have to, but I love new friends!)

So link it up! You can link anything from recipes, hair, style, crafts, DIY projects whatever!  Show your Pinterest inspiration and your interpretation of the project.  You never know, yours could get pinned too!  Link as many as you want. I can't wait to see what you have all created!

Sooo, something kinda cool is going on today!

Since I redid my design I have had a few people comment on the pictures in the about me section and my new blog button.  Well today I can reveal why I took those pictures in the first place!

Today a photo shoot I was a part of about a month ago was published on Style Me Pretty!!  If you don't know, this is a pretty big wedding blog.  It is so great for the vendors involved, they get a lot of exposure through posting their weddings on this site.

The shots were done by Brienne Michelle Photography.  She is one.talented.lady. {and a proud sponsor - button in the sidebar!}  I was so impressed with her design and work, I felt so beautiful!!

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know about Nakate.  Shanley Knox has brought back jewelry to America to sell to support the African women who make it.  What a great thing, right?  Well they needed models for a photo shoot and I of course offered Lavar and myself for it!  Lavar was less than thrilled, but like the good husband he is, he bucked up and headed out.  I mean, he's so handsome, it wouldn't have been so great without him!

If you want to check out the extent of my modeling career, you can see the pictures from the Bohemian Styled shoot here.  You can also see the entire gallery of pictures here.

Hope you like them!  I would love to hear what you think!

Inspiration ~ Family

I am usually not a super sentimental person, but gosh darn it, I miss my husband.  It stinks when he is gone, we function so much better as a family when he is around.  Tae misses him.  Elis misses him. But soon enough, soon enough.

So today my inspiration is my family.  My husband and how he does what is hard because it is the best for us.  How he provides for our family.   He tells me I will have everything I need and then we'll work on the wants, and more often than not, in front of his own wants/needs because he loves me.  Thank you babe!

Then there's my babies.  Oh my babies.  Sometimes I am want to curl up into a ball on the floor crying and sometimes I want to squeeze you and kiss you for hours.  {wow, I sound a little crazy}
They can teach you how to truly enjoy each spoonful of frozen yogurt.
Or how awesome it is to swing really, super-duper high on the swings.

Or how awesome it is to go down a slide or do crazy karate kicks into the water.

I mean, look at that face!  Such a stud.
I love it how forgiving they can be when momma forgets their swimsuits and a super hot day, that's okay, these shorts will do!
Feeling the wind in your hair running along the beach! Go, Eli, go!
And is there anything more fun than digging in the sand looking for sand crabs at the beach?
I think not.

Can I get an amen if you have an awesome family that inspire you daily!

AMEN!!

The winner of the Time Well Spent giveaway is #1, Tracy from Scribbles and Smudge!  I've e-mailed you already!
