Easy Pork Chops recipe

Do you love to cook?  Or does 5 o'clock roll around and you're wondering what the heck you are gonna feed the monsters currently crying and pulling your pants down.  I happen to fall into the latter category, not so much becaue I don't like to cook, I happen to enjoy it.  But because  my husband is so boring when it comes to food, I don't really have the freedom to create in the kitchen.  I told him he was so complicated he responded with "I'm not complicated.  I just so simple it bugs you."  Ha got me on that one.

So anyway, I try to find/create recipes that are yummy (read: everyone eats them) and easy.  We have meat with.every.meal. (remember, feeding monsters here), so it gets costly as well.  Here is a simple easy maybe 20 minute recipe ~ Apricot Porkchops.
Through your pork chops into a baking dish and season.  I just use salt, pepper, and Lawry's.  Gotta have Lawry's in this house.
The recipe calls for breadcrumbs and I would love to just buy them, but they don't sell breadcrumbs in France.  Go figure.  So I make my own.  And you know what, I think it's better that way.
So here's how you do it:  Take some apricot jam or preserves and slather it on the seasoned chops.  cover the jam with the bread crumbs and voila, you have prepared dinner.  I know you are loving me now!
Pop them in the oven on broil for 15-18 minutes, make sure you are checking so they don't over cook, pork chops have a tendency to do that.  So I suggest setting it low and checking it.
This is the chops heading into the tuperware for leftovers.  When my family gets hungry around here, chaos ensues.  But that is another post for another time.  Just me.

So there you have it!  A super easy recipe that the kids will actually eat, because the jam adds sweetness to it, but works for the whole family!  You're welcome!

What do ya think?  Will you give it a try?

Fall Fashion & a Hair Tutorial!

It is most definitely beginning to look a lot like fall in France!  If you are new here and wondering why I live in France, check out my c'est moi page.  It'll get ya up to speed real quick!

The weather here has been fantastic.  It has been cool, but not too cold, a little rain but not too much.  No snow yet, just perfect.  Thank you fall in France, for being just what you're supposed to be!

Today was a nothing day.  We sat around the house, played games, ate {because that is what my boys do. Like all.day.long} and relaxed.  I enjoyed it.  But even on days like these I try to get out of my jammies and create a cute outfit.  Actually it is sometimes easier on days like these, with no rush to be anywhere.
I'll start from the top. Headband ~ I think Charlotte Russe... Scarf ~ gift; Shirt ~ gift; Bracelets ~ Target; Shorts ~ H&M; tights ~ who knows; Leg warmers ~ made by me!; Boots ~ Carlos Santana
I am l.o.v.e. lovin' the boots socks I made today in like 5 minutes.  I have wanted some for a while, but then these were free and took no time at all.  Done and done.

I also did a little fall style hair do.  I liked it because it is classy and simple, nice enough for a night out or a day with the kids.  Super easy too.

And because I am super awesome like that, I made a quick little video.  It shows you can do this style in less than 10 minutes.  Um... Yes, please!!

Thanks for watching!! I hope it was helpful!

If you are stopping by from Casey, Illy, Danielle, or Jess's place then hello!! Nice to meet you!  I love meeting new people, so make sure you say hi!  You can peruse some hair tutorials, or some of my outfits.  You can also read about my life here in France!  Thanks for stopping by!

Liked it, Did it, Pinned #4

Okay, so it's Thursday and we're back for the Pinterest inspired Linky party!!  This week we have an awesome co-host and I am so excited about it!! Cami from All things Lovely and I have teamed up to bring you one big Pinterest party!!  Great idea, right?  We thought so.  You can go show her some love, and if you link up here or there, it all shows up in the same place!  We're making things easier on you.  You're welcome. :)

I can't wait to see what ya'll did!  I made (and thoroughly enjoyed) these...

Mine didn't look a thing like this picture.  As a matter of fact, I may or may not have remembered to add the baking powder.  And baking soda.  But I made sure the cream cheese with powdered sugar filling got in there!!  And they still tasted delicious. {check out Annies-eats.com for lots of great recipes!}

Here are the features from last week:
Braided Headbands from Natalie at NS Pottery

Whiteney from Davenport Developments shared this cute outfit & a yummy pie! Fashion and food? Yes, please!

And lastly, but most certainly not least, is my co-host, Cami from All Things Lovely!  She put together some really cute outfits inspired from Pinterest.

Okay, you're turn!! Whatcha got?

Here are some guidelines ....

1.) Make sure you know where the picture for inspiration is coming from. It is someone's work and you should ask permission to use it in the blog post and give credit where it is due!
2.) Link the post URL, not your blog's.
3.) Add the linky button somewhere in the blog post and in your linky bar.  Parties are more fun with more people!
4.) No link and leaves!  Check out at least two other posts that catch your eye and share some comment love!
5.) I would love if you were following me!  (totally don't have to, but I love new friends!)

25 ways to wear a scarf

I was going to make my own video on how to tie a scarf, but then I saw this one on youtube and thought, there's just no way I can top that.  So instead I would love to share this wonderfully crafted YouTube video with you all on how to tie a scarf.  It is from Wendy's Lookbook.  You can check out her YouTube channel or go to her blog.  She does quite a bit of fashion and is so great at it.

I want to make sure everyone knows, I had nothing to do with this video and am in no way taking credit for anything.  I just thought it was completely awesome and couldn't be topped, so I wanted to share it with you!!

Have a great Tuesday!

Quick & Easy Turban Headband

Since I started my hair challenge for myself a while back, I have really tried to not wear my hair in a pony tail or messy bun.  It's like I fee guilty or something.  When really all I have to do is snap a picture, slap it on the blog and then I can throw it up in a messy bun.  It's just the pictures that matter, right?

Well I was kinda proud of myself with this one.  I had messy hair but didn't want to wash it.  Or brush it, for that matter.  I had thrown on some clothes to take the hubs to practice and didn't know what to do with my hair.  I remembered this belt and voila!  Cute hair!

It was raining and Tae didn't want to come outside. Silly boy, didn't want to stand outside in the cold, wet, rain to take mommy's pictures??  Where are his priorities?  So I braved it all alone.

Then later that night, I thought it would be nice to have a quick easy tutorial for it.  I think it's less than four minutes.  You're welcome.  My son is in the bath behind me, it's called multitasking.  Don't worry, I am a good mother.  I promise.

I have some exciting things coming for the month of November!!  I have decided to do a month of beauty covering everything from red lips, fake eye lashes, and lots of holiday hair tutorials!!  And I am going to have a giveaway each week.  Like really cool giveaways that you'll want to win, promise.

Any hair styles you want to see in the month of beauty?  How do you wear your hair for holiday dinners or work get-togethers?  Hopefully this next month will give you some good ideas!

Mini Pumpkin Pies

I love fall.  Probably my favorite season.  There are so many reasons I love this season, boots, cool weather, beautiful colors, fun holidays, but pretty high up on the list there would be pumpkins.  I grew up eating pumpkin pie made from fresh pumpkins.  We would go to the pumpkin patch and pick some to carve and some to cook. I am sure my mom regrets starting this tradition, making from scratch instead of the can, because my dad then became spoiled and will no longer eat anything pumpkin made with the canned stuff.

Well I guess I got spoiled too, because I like it fresh.  In France, they don't have canned, so I actually have to do it this way.  I am on a mission to make as many things pumpkin as possible, as it is one of my absolute favorites. Last night we had pumpkin waffles for dinner and they were a big hit.  A few days ago, we had these mini pumpkin pies.  Not as big of a hit.  I got my kids all amped up to eat them because I was so excited and Tae tasted one and made a face.

"What, Tae?  You don't like it?"  I asked, confused.

"Yuck, mom."

"What's the problem?"

"Oh mom, these are not delicious."

Whatever Tae.  Your taste buds are off or something, because they were, in fact, delicious.  I may or may not have ate all 6 of them.
My thoughts are that because the French ingredients used aren't as sweet as the American ones, he didn't like it.  Because he has eaten my pumpkin pie before and liked it.  And I used bought tarte dough, also different.  The reason I am posting these 'not so delicious' mini pumpkin pies is because 1.) Tae's apparently crazy. 2.) I thought they were fantastic. 3.) They'll be even better with yummy American sweetness.

Here's the recipe:

2 cups canned or cooked pumpkin
3/4 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 2/3 cups evaporated milk

Heat oven to 425. Prepare pastry. Beat eggs slightly with hand beater; beat in
remaining ingredients. Place pastry-lined pie plate on oven rack;pour in filling. Bake 15
minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 350. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean,
45 minutes longer; cool. Serve with whipped cream if desired.

I'll be linking this up to the linky parties in my sidebar, check 'em out!

Happy Saturday!!
