No Heat Summer Curls

So, I have been trying to find ways to have my hair look cute this summer with as little effort on my part as possible.  It's hot, we're busy, and I don't have a ton of time (let alone do I want to) sit in the bathroom and do my hair.  My summer mantra is "less is more."

So when I found this little gem, I knew I had to perfect it.  And it is one of the best things I have ever learned {hair-wise, of course}.  Here is a view of the final product.
Yes, I did this without a curling iron.  Yes, it is possible!  And yes, it does not take a lot of time!  Busy women and moms everywhere, STOP what you are doing and read this tutorial!  You will definitely thank me later!

Here is how you do it. First of all, you need to start with your hair washed and about 90% dry.  You can add products while it is still damp if you would like, but it isn't necessary.  I just used some mousse and hair silk.

Take a flat, smooth headband and put it around the top of your head, over the hair, like shown below.  Start in the front taking one section of hair.  The bigger the section, the bigger the curls.  Take this section and wrap it around the headband one time, leaving the remaining hanging down with the rest of the hair.  Continue this with that side until you reach the nape of your neck.  Then start the other side and finish with all the hair wrapped around the headband.  This style is perfect for medium length hair.

This is what the finished product should look like:
This was taken in the morning, after I slept on it.

You can probably see now why it works so well.  Sleep on it like this, it won't get too messed up.  It is pretty sturdy.  When you wake up in the morning, take it out of the twist-ies and you have some curls!!
My cell phone mug shot. Keepin' it real here, ladies, first thing in the morning
At this point you can add curls if you want/need too.  Mine comes out pretty decent.  I have had to add a curl or two to the back and sometimes straighten out the front, but really, that's it.  And the best part about this 'do?  It stays ALL DAY!  And the next day!  Really until you wash it.  It did for me at least and my hair isn't the greatest with holding curl.
So there you have it!  Super easy summer hair!

I don't know about you guys, but I thought this was the best thing since sliced bread.  I mean really, it has cut down my getting ready time by so much and I don't look like I just rolled out of bed.  {And I did just roll out of bed!}  If the curls don't work out for you for some reason, you still have a good base to do a lot of other hair styles.

I would love to hear if you try this one and how it works for you!  I hope you love it as much as I do!  Let me know if you think you would like a video to go with this.  It's pretty simple, but not sure I am the best at explaining things.

Hope you all are having a great Tuesday!

I love this concept... but everytime i do it... my hair gets in knots in the back. I just can't get it right. I think my hair is too long for this!

Got your comment - a video would be great, but if it takes too much time, no worries! I'm thinking from the way you describe it, it's "kind of" like wrapping your hair around the headband - braiding but not braiding it...
PS: Thanks for following...

Beautiful! Your hair did great with this. I am not sure that mine would, but using the headband is such a great idea. I think I can adapt it to something that would work perfect for me too. Thanks for the idea!!

i have tried this with my hair and it just doesn't work! but its because I'm a special case, half black half white hair that is super curly, so I can't do it when its 90% dry because It is a huge frizz and I have to flat iron it before I put it up like this! but like i said.. im the exception to the rule. anyone with white people hair will work lol :) and it really is super awesome, and time saving, and good to use on little girls who want their hair curled... i just cant justify taking a curling iron to a 8 year olds hair! lol

Love that! If my hair will ever grow...I am totally gonna try that! Even though I have curls...I think it will help with a more consistent wave/curl. Looks great on you too!

I saw this a few weeks ago and was in awe. I had a new job and had to wake up early and thought this would be great.

I looked like a HOT MESS. Picture a 20's flapper poodle... with extra frizz... I guess shoulder length hair isn't good for this one :)

needless to say, my hair went into a bun that day :P
