I don't know about you guys, but money is tight. And it is frustrating. You know what the most frustrating part is? That I cannot financially contribute to our lives at this point in our life. I know that there are women out there reading this who will not understand where I am coming from. From day one they have wanted to be a wife and a mother and when they achieved those goals, their lives were complete. Unfortunately, I am not one of those women. While those little girls were playing with pillow cases on their heads as bridal veils (saw that in a movie), I was opening a cooking class for my younger cousins. When they were gushing over boys in high school, I was playing sports and helping manage a business. (don't be fooled, I also made time for gushing. I was great at multitasking!)
Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with either of these situations. It just so happens that because I fall in the latter of the two, and happen to have two kids and never stay in any place that speaks English longer than 3 months, I can't do a thing about it. Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband who wants me to pursue my dream. We just don't have a very 'dream-pursing' conducive life right now.
So as I am sitting here tonight, a bit depressed because I can't do anything about these situations, I thought I would come up with a 30 before 30 list. I have seen them around and thought this might be a good way to set goals for myself. I do better when I have something to look forward to, a list to cross off. It might change a bit with time or as I get to spend a bit more time thinking about the items on the list, but as for now, this is it. I am surprised (or maybe not) how many things involve spending money. I don't want my happiness to be contingent on spending money and having things. So I think I will focus on the ones that give back.
30 before 30
1.) Take a cruise with my husband
2.) Run another 10k without stopping under 1hr.
3.) Open an Etsy shop
4.) Buy a Mac computer, the one I want
5.) Visit Greece
6.) Visit Rome
7.) Find a younger woman of God to mentor
8.) Become fluent in French
9.) Become a blog designer
10.) Buy Adobe Illustrator
11.) Buy a house with my husband
12.) Invest in a nice camera (not point and shoot)
13.) Create a cookbook of my favorite recipes
14.) Grow my little blog into something more. Not sure what yet.
15.) Get in shape
16.) Find a way to contribute financially to our family
17.) Learn to sew better
18.) Figure out what I want to be when I grow up (whenever that is...)
19.) Organize a fundraiser for Great American Bakesale
20.) Sponsor two less fortunate kids through my boys so they can understand how fortunate they are
21.) Establish more of a retirement
22.) Get my husband’s stinkin’ green card
23.) Become more organized
24.) Develop family traditions for each major holiday, and maybe some fun stuff for the not so major ones
25.) Read the Bible all the way through
26.) Find my personal sense of style
27.) Go to beauty school
28.) Establish a way to keep my finances in order and stick with it.
29.) Volunteer at church
30.) Find an older woman of God to mentor me
Do any of you have a 30 before 30 or 40 before 40 or {enter age here} before whatever list? Or just a plain old bucket list? I would love to read about them. Maybe inspire me to add a few to my list.
Have a great hump day peeps!

Funny that you would post this today as I've been thinking I need a list, too, but mine would have to be 60 before 60! And I only have 2 years to get them all done. Maybe I need to make it a true bucket list and just make it before I die. hahaha
Funny thing about those family traditions ~ I thought we had some really good ones until my wonderful daughter said to me at Easter ~ just because I don't do the same things we did as children doesn't lessen the value of what we did.
humph!
I have some of the same things on my list as you... own a home with my guy and visit different country's... as well as buy a car and learn to drive :)

Yeah. Number 3. Do that soon.
Those are really great wishes though, and I have NO doubt at all that you will do them all. I can tell you are a very motivated girl!
This is such a great idea. I may just make one of my own.
Best of luck with your list!!

All of these are such beautiful ideas! I think you could make a beautiful etsy shop :)
Great stuff! Many of these are on my mental list. Mine would be a 40 before 40! Yikes...it's sneaking up on me.
What a great list! I made one when I turned 25 and I definitely didn't do everything on it, but you've inspired me to start a new one. :)
Wow! Very inspiring list girl! I love #7! And #12 would difintely be on my list!! I have no doubt you'll accomplish these!
Adobe Illustrator is so fun! I teach it to my journalism students, along with Photoshop and InDesign. Best of luck on all of your goals and achievements!
