My Word for 2012

Well the New Year is here.  And for some reason most people feel like this is the time to change.  I get it.  I do the same thing.  I feel like I can make changes if I am starting at the New Year.  Unfortunately, I tend to lose focus around March and that's being generous.

I read an article by Melissa at Adventuroo and she uses one word for the New Year.  Something to focus on, to motivate you.  So I decided I needed a word more than a list of resolutions.  This way I can make it more of a lifestyle than a check list.  My word is one of the hardest things for me and my struggles through it are manifested in so many different ways.  Here it is...

I want to spend more active time with my kids, doing things that they want to do.  Tutoring Tae in English {his school is French}.  Playing trains with Eli.  I do these things now, but I am really not very good at managing my time.

I love blogging.  I love my bloggy friends.  I am excited about the changes we are making here in 2012.  I don't want to stop or give it up, but I want to be able to balance my time more wisely.  I want to have designated times when I blog/work that doesn't take too much away from my kids and husband.

And as much as I like blogging, I want to pursue things outside of my blog.  Say whaaa..??  I want to start running since we don't have a gym here.  I want to try to be a bit more crafty with the little resources that I have here in France.  I want to READ, like, a book.  You know, the real ones, with paper pages.  But I don't read French so I have to wait until I am in Paris in a couple weeks to find an English bookstore. {Shakespeare & Company}.

I want to work on my house.  I want it to be a haven, more organized, more tidy.  My Pinterest pin describes me completely : Creative Minds are Rarely Tidy.  I am reading a book to be organized in a year and I am excited to where it takes me!  I get overwhelmed thinking about taking a whole year, but baby steps...

So that sums it up for me! I am nervous because I hate to fail and excited because my life needs a change.

What's your word for 2012?  Or do you do resolutions?  Either way, here's to a great year!! God Bless!

Oh and don't forget, tomorrow I am hosting a photo contest!! Make sure to come back so you can link up a photo!!  Here is the info on the last one I did back in August.

Great word! This is my second year choosing a word. Last year it was "Do" This year it's "Reclaim" I did a post about it here:

Good luck with your new year and new word!

That's a good rounded word to focus on. All mommas need balance. Yes we do!
Mine was 'Confidence.'

Have a great 2012!

That's a great word and would totally fit to me as well...it does get tough sometimes, especially now since I started working part time.
Good luck! Hugs xxx

I don't know if your town has a library, but if they do, there is probably an english section. We live in the middle of nowhere in Germany and even our library that open like, 3 days a week has a full shelf of english novels (and a lot of them are actually pretty decent). It's something worth looking into! :)

I'm doing "One Little Word" this year too. My word is SHINE. I want people that see me, know me, interact with me to see God SHINE through me. This means carefully choosing my words, actions and body language. Wishing you a year of blessings and balance!

Ahhhh....balance! I could've chosen that one. Wonderful choice :-) This year, my word is "growth" but I'm still going to try to work on last year's word, also (intentional).

Happy New Year!

I haven't really ever done words, but always thought it was cool. I am finally starting to get caught up on my life, whereas for the past two years it really felt like it was running me over.

It's kind of weird, but I would have to say mine for 2012 is definitely Self-Actualization. I don't know, something about turning 30 a few months ago really woke me up to how much I've been holding back in my life. I want to be the real me that God created me to be and be completely open and free in relationships without fear or insecurity or laziness. It makes me excited for 2012!!!

I think Balance is the PERFECT word! I'm not big on resolutions, but I do like to make little goals. Balance is a great one! And soo important!

I can totally relate to what you said about your home -- "I want it to be a haven, more organized, more tidy." This, too, is at the top of my resolution list. At the end of the work day, I want hubs to be able to walk into a home that's at least not compleeeetely chaotic. ;-) I'm praying for God to help me manage my time to make this happen!
